Pool cover anchors are the foundation of any safety cover system. They secure your pool cover to the deck, preventing accidents and keeping debris out. Choosing and installing the right anchors is crucial for both safety and longevity.

What Are Pool Cover Anchors?

Pool cover anchors are hardware devices installed into your pool deck that secure the straps of your safety cover. When properly installed, they can support significant weight and tension, making them essential for pool safety compliance.

At SwimCare, we manufacture anchors from premium materials including brass and stainless steel, each designed for specific deck types and conditions.

Types of Pool Cover Anchors

1. Brass Concrete Anchors

Our most popular option for concrete pool decks. Brass anchors offer excellent corrosion resistance and durability. They're installed by drilling into concrete and setting them with a tamping tool.

  • Ideal for concrete and paver decks
  • Superior corrosion resistance
  • Long-lasting performance

2. Stainless Steel Anchors

Perfect for areas with high salt exposure or extreme weather conditions. Stainless steel provides maximum strength and rust resistance.

  • Best for coastal areas
  • Maximum rust resistance
  • Highest strength rating

3. Wood Deck Anchors

Specially designed for wooden pool decks with included wood screws and flange disks for secure installation without drilling into concrete.

  • No concrete drilling required
  • Includes all mounting hardware
  • Easy installation

How to Install Concrete Pool Cover Anchors

Tools You'll Need:

  • • Rotary hammer drill
  • • 3/4" masonry drill bit
  • • Tamping tool (available from SwimCare)
  • • Vacuum or blower for debris removal
  • • Safety glasses and gloves
1

Mark Your Locations

Lay out your pool cover and mark where each anchor should be installed. Ensure proper spacing according to your cover manufacturer's specifications.

2

Drill the Holes

Using a rotary hammer drill with a 3/4" masonry bit, drill holes to the proper depth (typically 3.5-4 inches). Keep the drill perpendicular to the deck surface.

3

Clean the Holes

Remove all concrete dust and debris from the holes using a vacuum or blower. A clean hole ensures proper anchor setting.

4

Insert and Set the Anchors

Place the brass anchor into the hole and tap it flush with the deck surface. Use the tamping tool to expand the anchor and secure it firmly in the concrete.

5

Test the Installation

After installation, test each anchor by pulling firmly on it. It should not move or rotate. If it does, remove and reinstall.

Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance extends the life of your pool cover anchors:

  • Regular Inspection: Check anchors at the beginning and end of each season for signs of wear or damage.
  • Clean Debris: Remove dirt and debris from anchor holes to prevent corrosion.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to threaded anchors annually.
  • Replace When Needed: If an anchor becomes loose or damaged, replace it immediately.

Conclusion

Pool cover anchors are a critical component of your pool safety system. By choosing high-quality anchors from SwimCare and following proper installation procedures, you ensure maximum safety and longevity.
